What is the NAS ?
NAS (Network Attached Storage) is a dedicated file store that allows multiple users and heterogeneous client devices to retrieve data from a centralized disk space.
How it works ?
On a users local area network (LAN) access the shared storage through a standard Ethernet connection. NAS devices typically do not have a keyboard or display and are configured and managed through a browser-based utility. Each NAS exists on the LAN as an independent network node defined by its own unique IP address. It is useful for distributed teams that need remote access or work in different time zones, allowing distributed employees to easily access files from any desktop or mobile device with a network connection.
What is required to use the NAS ?
There are no hard disks in the NAS. Don't use any of your hard disks for NAS. There are separate hard disks for that.Processor and RAM are required to use NAS.
What are the features of NAS ?
NAS has many features. I will discuss some of these features.
1. If any harddisk inside the NAS is damaged. Even then you won't lose your files. This is done by Data Redundancy. Now you can see how many hard drives fail and you won't lose data with RAID (redundant array of independent disks).
2. You can access the files on the NAS from anywhere via the Internet
3.You can increase the storage by adding a hard disk according to your needs.
4.NAS can connect to your TV and watch any kind of downloaded movie or long video.
5.Using the help of multiple computers allows you to use the NAS.
